League of Legends Servers Unstable

League of Legends Servers Unstable

As you know, League of Legends Server Stability is problem that we have not yet been able to fully solve. A lot of you have been experiencing League of Legends server crashes and disconnections. But it our number 1 priority right now.

In addition to some recent hardware upgrades and new stability enhancements we have rolled out, here are two new features included in the latest patch that will help improve the quality of the experience if issues do appear.

PvP.net Ticker
The PVP.net Ticker is designed to give reliable information about the current state of the system. If the system is ever in a state out of the ordinary, you will see a message displayed in the upper left of PvP.net. This is designed to give you status about overall system health, and to let you know that we’re aware of and working on any issues. It will also be great to let you know about imminent scheduled maintenance, and other actions that will impact the service. Our goal with the Ticker is to provide you with clear and reliable communication about a variety of issues that may impact your League of Legends experience.

The LoL Button
I’m happy to say that now when we are experiencing severe, system wide issues, we will be able to press “The LoL Button”. This will prevent users from receiving losses or leaves because of an issue outside of their control, which we know this is very frustrating. It enables a mode that will make bad things stop happening to players. When this mode is active, the following rules will be put into place for all games in progress and starting during this mode:

* Users will not receive a Loss or Leave from being in game or champion select. * Users will not be able to lose ELO. * Users will still receive wins, at a rate of 50% of the ELO that they are entitled to (this is to prevent ELO inflation). * All users will receive all of the XP and IP that they are entitled to upon game completion. * Stats will be recorded and saved for games, but they will not count towards any lifetime aggregates, and will be labeled as such.

We intend to use this mode when there are system wide issues that are impacting large numbers of players. To help reduce the risk of potential exploitation, we will not be broadcasting that this mode is enabled. “The Button” is to prevent players from receiving negative marks on their record when there are issues affecting them outside their control, not to allow a free for all of bad behavior.

We think that these two new features will help alleviate some of the negative experiences that are a result of unplanned downtime. Additionally, if you have any feedback or suggestions about how we can improve these features, please let us know.

We will of course try to continue on improving system stability and reliability across the board, and as always we appreciate your patience as we strive to improve your experience in League of Legends. But if you have no patience right now, you can temporarily try out other DotA based games. A quick Google search would help.

League of Legends Champion: Miss Fortune

Miss Fortune, the Bounty Hunter. On the Fields of Justice, if you have the... misfortune of fighting Miss Fortune, then I feel for you. Dear non-English-speaking communities: I realize this pun doesn't work in your language. Miss fortune is "misfortune" in English. I'm sorry, but I had to.

As a ranged physical carry, Miss Fortune is extremely item-dependent. While Double Up does apply on-hit effects like Madred's Bloodrazor, I prefer the more conventional choice like Infinity Edge and Last Whisper. With these two items, and the two physical damage elixirs, you can create a huge advantage for your team with a deadly push.

Miss Fortune skill build is:

1. Double Up
2. Make it Rain
3. Double Up
4. Impure Shots
5. Double Up
6. Bullet Time
7. Double Up
8. Impure Shots
9. Double Up
10. Impure Shots
11. Bullet Time
12. Impure Shots
13. Impure Shots
14. Make it Rain
15. Make it Rain
16. Bullet Time
17. Make it Rain
18. Make it Rain

Miss Fortune item build is:

* Boots of Speed + 3 Health Potions
* Infinity Edge
* Last Whisper
* Mercury Treads
* Elixirs of Fortitude and Agility (forever!)
* Frozen Mallet
* Guardian Angel
* Banshee's Veil

Got a better build? What is your Miss Fortune build?

League of Legends Sneak Peek (September 16, 2010)

League of Legends Sneak Peek (September 16, 2010)

Summoners!

If you're looking for a bit of insider info on what's down the road in the world of Runeterra, we're here to give you a little taste of what's to come. If you picked up the November issue of PC Gamer, this will probably mostly be a recap for you. Now remember that these are just a bit of a sneak preview. Anything that you see here is subject to change, so take it all with that proverbial grain of salt. That being said, we hope that this gives you an even better idea of some of the awesomeness that's on the horizon in Valoran.

Inside the Magma Chamber!

If there's one thing that we've learned about Runeterrans, it's that they're huge cartography enthusiasts. We get more requests for maps than we do just about anything else in League of Legends. So, without further ado, allow me to give you a sneak peek at an upcoming Field of Justice that we're calling: The Magma Chamber.

Deep within the obsidian mountain from which the Institute of War is sculpted lies the League’s most intense Field of Justice to date – the Magma Chamber. Before the time of the League, the Chamber was the heart of a powerful, but now dormant, volcano. Ancient magma flows cut out a gigantic cavernous room that the League has reshaped for its own purposes. This battle arena was built specifically to address the increasing number of disputes between Demacia and Noxus. It is one of the largest Fields of Justice found anywhere on Valoran. To that end, teleporting platforms provide champions with the ability to rapidly relocate to strategic points in the arena. The magic-infused stone and cooled magma that dominates the structure of the arena will force champions to work together more closely in pushing toward the enemy’s nexus. It will be harder for a champion to rely on their summoner to traverse hazards and obstacles. The League is preparing this Field of Justice to be the premier arena for its use; as such, a slew of new monsters and minions await champions in what will surely be their greatest challenge yet.

A Shiny New Look

Anybody who has ever dropped a penny into a glass of cola knows that things are just nicer when they're shiny. And that's why, here at Riot Games, we have a Team Shiny that's been hard at work making sure that you get the most out of your League of Legends aesthetics. Over the last few months, we've been working to integrate some new graphics technology into the League of Legends engine. This will allow us to have flashier spell and lighting effects, clearer looking terrain, and, well, just a better looking League of Legends experience in general. While there's still quite a bit of work to be done, Gragas and Mordekaiser wanted to drop in to give you a little taste of what you've got to look forward to if you ran into them on Summoner's Rift in the middle of winter.

Runeterra World Tour

If you've ever wondered life is like for the average resident of Valoran, but you've never gone window shopping in Bandle City or barhopping along the docks of Bilgewater, then you'll be pleased to know that we're here to give you the grand tour. If you're looking for a bit of local color, here's some environment art detailing some of our most prominent city-states. Whether you fancy yourself a ruthless Noxian General or an enlightened Ionian Scholar, it never hurts to have an idea of what you might see when you're have a look out the window. Here's a bit of geographical perspective.

A Fond Farewell

And remember, if that super important feature that you've been anticipating didn't make it onto this list, that doesn't mean that we aren't working on it. We have a whole lot of teams here at Riot developing a whole lot of different technology here at Riot. This is just the tip of the iceberg! There are a host of new features in development, and these just happened to be the ones we were ready to showcase at this time. If you're waiting on something big, stay tuned!

Malzahar makes for a mastermind in materializing major victories in League of Legends. All of his abilities directly deal deadly damage to dangerous detractors. Deriving and devising devious designs will result in the rapid resurgence of the dominance of the Void. Combined with Call of the Void and Nether Grasp, you’re able to quickly kill squishy champions in a heartbeat. Later in the game, Null Zone makes for an awesome ability to use in large team fights, especially if it hits tanks. There’s a really awesome tactic you can use as well: Learn Call of the Void first and cast it multiple times at the very start of the game. Then, if you instigate a fight or simply want to jungle, you’ll have your Voidling spawn at the start of the fight.

Malzahar skill order is:

1. Call of the Void
2. Malefic Visions
3. Malefic Visions
